4 Items to Make Getting In and Out of Bed Easier

As your body gets older, it’s common for mobility issues to make getting in and out of bed much harder. There’s no reason to put up with the pain, especially since you could easily injure yourself. Luckily enough, there are plenty of products on the market to help lower the strain and make things easier on your body, and here are just four.

  1. Adjustable Beds

The first thing you should look for is an adjustable bed. These can raise you up into a seating position to make getting out of bed easier, and some models can be lowered and raised. They also provide indirect assistance by making it easier to sleep. Adjustable beds can help with a range of mobility issues, allowing you to wake up feeling more refreshed and with less pain, stiffness, and discomfort.

  1. Grab Bars

If you find getting in and out of bed particularly hard, you might need grab bars fitted along the side of your adjustable bed. You can place pressure on them as you pull yourself up or lower yourself down, and they can also help you keep your balance and prevent falls.

  1. Floor-to-Ceiling Poles

Floor-to-ceiling poles work just like grab bars, but some people prefer them because they don’t take up quite so much space. A horizontal support bar is fitted from floor to ceiling, and you can grip onto it to help while you get in and out of bed – they can also be set next to sofas or armchairs, which is nice if you have an armchair in your bedroom for a little late-night reading.

  1. Leg Lifters

Unlike adjustable beds, grab bars, and floor-to-ceiling poles, leg lifters can be taken all around the home and are very inexpensive. Essentially, they are simple lengths of fabric or rubber with a strap at each end. You can slip your foot into one end and then hold the other in your hand, which helps lift the leg if you suffer from limited mobility. They can’t help you get into bed, but they can help you get out.
